Sports Equipment Exchange Program The YMCA Equipment Exchange Program will be open the first Saturday of each month on the 3rd floor of the YMCA from 9:00 AM - Noon and by appointment. Donations are accepted during open hours and also by appointments.

The Washington YMCA, in collaboration with the Washington Middle School Parents in Education (PIE) and the Washington School District, are proud to announce that many wonderful items have already been donated and are ready to go.

The exchange will be open the first Saturday of the month starting on September 1. It is open to any student from the district, YMCA or private program. All items are offered free or for a free will donation.

The goal is to have ALL KIDS PLAY!

1:10 Dismissal Schedule Please note that WMS will be starting classes five minutes earlier on Early Dismissal Days. Classes will start at 8:05 rather than 8:10.

Attendance Line Parents are encouraged to use the attendance line to inform the WMS office of students absences. Please call and leave a message. 319-653-1101

Clover Cookers Club Washington County Extension/4-H is offering a youth cooking club for students in grades 4 - 12. This club will provide hands-on learning through long term club experience. Explore the tasty fun of the kitchen through new recipes each month while including topics such as the basics of food and kitchen safety, healthy recipe substitutes, snacks on the go, meal planning and serving etiquette.

WHEN: October 21, December 16, February 17, April 21, June 16 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM

WHERE: Washington County Farm Bureau Building

WHO: Open to 4th - 12th grade students. Not required to be a 4-H member previously.

HOW: Contact Washington County Extension Office, 319-653-4811. Cost is $30 club fee. Limited space available.

WHY: Increase knowledge and cooking experience, make new friends, work as a team, gain new recipes for your personal kitchen, develop communication skills, and HAVE FUN!

DOT Driver's Permit Testing Is your son or daughter turning 14 and wanting you to take them out of school or have you take off work early to take them to the courthouse to complete their learners permit test. You no longer need to do this. Have them contact Aaron Six and set up a time during the school day to take the online test. Once you pass the test a certificate is issued and you can drastically reduce your time at the DOT.

Washington Middle School Picture Day Student pictures will be taken at WMS on Wednesday, September 26, beginning at 8:20 AM. All students and staff members will be photographed for school records and identification cards. Picture packets were sent home with middle school students on September 17. Each student must bring his/her own order envelope with payment to the camera on picture day in order to receive pictures or parents can order online prior to picture day with their Picture Day ID at mylifetouch.com. Late orders will be accepted online only up to 48 hours after Picture Day. Students are under no obligation to purchase pictures, however, all pictures are guaranteed. If parents or students are not satisfied with their portraits for any reason, Lifetouch will gladly retake them. WMS Parent/Teacher Conferences Washington Middle School parent/teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, September 27 from 4:00 –7:30 PM.

Parents are asked to enter through the south gym doors as teachers will be conferencing with parents in the gym. Midterm grades will be available and parents are encouraged to take the time to visit with their student’s teachers.

Mrs. Greiner, ELL teacher, will be available from 4:00 – 5:30 PM.
