Scholarship- The Wendy's High School Heisman is open for seniors in the Class of 2019 to apply. The application deadline is October 17, 2018. You can go to this web address to apply online:https://www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, participate in at least one sport, be a leader in school and in the community and serve as a role model for underclassmen.


Scholarship- The Iowa National Guard Officers Auxiliary provides scholarships each year to graduating Seniors. They need to be a dependent of a Iowa National Guard Member (current or retired) to apply. Silver Cord Opportunity- Students interested in learning how to keep score and/or line judge for volleyball please see Ms. Mason. Easy hours during our home games and home tournament 10/6.


Picture Day- Picture Day at WHS will be Tuesday, September 25. Lifetouch will begin photographing at 7:30 am so students with morning Kirkwood classes should come to get their picture taken at that time. All 9-11th students and staff are strongly encouraged to have a picture taken, even if not ordering. These are used for ID Cards, Activity Cards and for use in the Yearbook. Seniors may also have their picture taken to be used as a senior photograph for the yearbook if not having one taken professionally. Order forms are in the office and with advisors.


College Visit- Iowa Central Community College will be here Tuesday, October 9 from 12:30 - 1:30.


Scholarship- HyVee offers college scholarships to students with one requirement relating to current employment. Students should look at www.hy-vee.com to find out all eligibility requirements.


NHS Blood Drive- NHS will sponsor a Blood Drive on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Aux Gym. Please contact any NHS member to sign up to donate or contact Joan Hippen, 319-653-2143, jhippen@washington.k12.ia.us or visit online www.bloodcenterimpact.org Please eat breakfast and drink water before donating. Anyone 16 year and older may donate. If you are 16 stop and pick up a parent consent form in the library before you can donate! Please bring a Photo ID.

FAFSA Presentation- ICAN will be giving a Financial Aid (FAFSA) Presentation at the Kirkwood Regional Center in Washington on September 26 at 6:00. If you can't make this presentation you can contact a FAFSA rep directly at www.icansucceed.org.


Parent Teacher Conferences- Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Wednesday, September 26th, 3:45 - 7:15.


Wrestling Cheer Meeting- Wednesday, October 31st will be a meeting in the commons at 7:30 AM for all wrestling cheerleaders.


ASVAB Test- The ASVAB Test (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a military based career exploration inventory. Taking it does not mean you are wanting to go into the military. It's another free avenue to help you find career interests. The test is for 10th - 12th graders,and will be given Wednesday, November 7th at 1:20-3:20 p.m. in Room 159. If interested in taking it, please sign up in the Counselor's Office.


From the Kitchen- This week's salad choices are Beef Taco and Garden Vegetable. The parfait flavor is Double Berry.

Dance Marathon- Any student interested in being a part of WHS Dance Marathon please stop in room 145 to sign up.


Scholarship- The Horatio Alger Scholarship is availble online at: scholars.horatioalger.org This scholarship is for students with significant financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Deadline to apply is Thursday,Oct 25.


Scholarship- AES Scholarship Deadline Is Approaching The deadline for the 13th annual AES Scholarship is October 6, 2018. Visit the website at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm The winner(s) will be announced within 2 weeks of the deadline. Each winner will be personally notified by email.


BPA Students- BPA students planning to attend the Fall Leadership Conference, stop in Ms. Duwa's room to pick up paperwork this week. Forms and money are due Thursday, September 27.

Winter Sports Sign Up- Any student wishing to go out for a winter sport, please stop by the activities office and sign up.


College Rep- The University of Iowa will have a representative here Thursday, October 11 from 12:00 - 1:15 during the lunch shifts.


1:10 Dismissal- Due to Teacher Professional Development, Wednesday, September 26 will be a 1:10 dismissal. Kirkwood classes will remain on the same schedule and the shuttle bus to and from Kirkwood will still run.
